Follow Convida Chloé Douglas – Color Jam

Por Chloé Douglas, designer/blog Plenty of Colour.
Plenty of Colour is a blog devoted to colour in design, architecture, fashion and every hue-focused facet of life.
Chloé is a Vancouver designer and maker of things. Madly in love with colour since her first toddler glance of the hardware store paint chip wall, Chloé decided to create Plenty of Colour as a daily blog devoted to the topic. When not editing excessive exclamation points out of business emails or swooning over her Pantone guide, you can find Chloé fusing modern technology and handcrafted detail for an array of design clients as well as her own colour-focused projects.

Hello everyone! Chloé from Plenty of Colour here and I am honoured to be writing a guest post for Follow the Colours. Carol is my true colour soul mate!

I love art installations and particularly like when they appear on the street and interact with every day life. Since I first saw the sketches a few months ago, I have been eagerly anticipating artist Jessica Stockholder‘s ‘Color Jam‘ installation in Chicago. The busy intersection of State and Adams Streets is wrapped in 76,000 square feet of tangerine-red, bright sky blue and leaf green vinyl as Jessica envisioned a ‘three-dimensional painting’ being applied to the four corner space.

The bold colour creeps delightfully up lamp posts and cement edges and I love the life brought to the cityscape by these gorgeous slices of hue (especially when urban colour is so often advertisements and logos). I think more cities should feature bright hues splashing up buildings and bursting out of doorways, don’t you think? It’s incredible how a plain street becomes beautiful art with a little colour….
