Hello! My name is Fonda LaShay – I am a graphic designer and avid blogger! My blog, Fonda LaShay Design, is where I love to share all things that inspire me from interior design & architecture to fashion & music. I live in Norway and I absolutely love it here, I am originally from the US. I am very honored that Carol has asked me to do a Guest Post and I hope that you love it!
I grew up loving super modern futuristic design, I remember when I was 14 I bought a set of clear neon plates and was for sure I would have them my whole life. Since then my design views and likes have changes dramatically. In 2008 I moved from Oklahoma, US to Stavanger, Norway. In the past two years I have fallen in love with Scandinavian Design. Scandinavian design combines modern ideas with function. What I love about the Scandinavian design is that it is clean, white and airy. People seem to decorate with simple natural colors on the big long term furniture, such as your couch and tables; but the accessories are where they add the color. I think this is very wise and cost effective to redecorate when styles changes if you are only changing out rugs, pillows, wall art and such; this keeps your house continually modern and fresh on a budget! Here are some of my favorite Scandinavian designers:
Figgjo is one of my favorite ceramic designers. Located in Figgjo, Norway (about an hour from where I live!) they design strong, bold streamlined pieces. Another big thing in Scandinavian design is a strong set of white dinner plates that you can dress up with some accent plates and accessories!
